Mark Makers

a Pollokshields Trust Project
The project aims to coordinate the creation of a community designed, owned and operated Common on the site of the now derelict Kingston Bowling Green in East Pollokshields. The former Bowling Green sits at the heart of an area of multiple deprivation, and once transformed will provide much needed Community Green Space for local residents.

Mark Makers is based upon goals identified by the local community during the Make Your Mark Charrette process in 2016. One of the identified strategy proposed to create a new public park and associated community facilities at Maxwell Road/Kenmure Street, centred around the former Bowling Green site.

The main aim of the Mark Makers Project is to deliver the components of the Make Your Mark Charrette report; through community engagement sessions and community design events, the Mark Makers Project aims to take a large community-centric step towards the creation of an ‘East Pollokshields (Urban) Common’, as requested by residents through the community-led Charrette.

FThroughout Spring 2018 the project had been working with the local community to facilitate local events and consultation opportunities, helping define the direction of the project.
